Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia Respects the Following Rights.

 

Applicants Have the Following Rights and Responsibilities:

 

1.       The right to be treated with respect and to expect their application to be reviewed fairly and without bias or discrimination.

2.       The right to receive accurate information about the program, the University, and clinical sites

3.       The right to speak with faculty and/or current students in the program if requested

4.       The right to know the collective success of the program graduate success on the National Certification Examination.

5.       The right to receive a letter from the Program Administrator regarding an admission committee decision.

6.       The responsibility to provide the application and all supporting material requested for admission consideration to Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and to insure that this material has been received by both.

7.       The responsibility for completing the application with accurate information for both Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

8.       The responsibility for all arrangements needed for the interview process.

9.       The responsibility for notifying Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia is they are withdrawing their application.

10.   The responsibility for assessing and arranging financial aid.

11.   The responsibility for a written letter either accepting or refusing an offer of a position at Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia.

12.   The responsibility for a written letter either accepting or refusing an offer of an alternate position at Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia.

 

Faculty Have the Following Rights and Responsibilities:

 

1.       The right to be treated with respect by students.

2.       The right to be treated with respect by the program administrator

3.       The right to know the objectives for each course/topic that he/she teaches.

4.       The right to remove a student from the classroom or the clinical area if the integrity of the class or the safety of the patient may be compromised.

5.       The right to see course evaluations and to have the opportunity to discuss the evaluations with the Program Administrator and/or Associate Directors of Education.

6.       The right and responsibility to provide feedback regarding the program, curriculum, and students and to make suggestions for improvements.

7.       The responsibility to be available during office hours to answer student questions.

8.       The responsibility to demonstrate respect for students and the learning process.

9.       The responsibility to be prepared for each lecture and to have a good understanding of the topic.

10.   The responsibility for evaluating student performance in the classroom and /or clinical area.

11.   The responsibility to evaluate the success of teaching strategies and the effectiveness of the evaluation process/methods.

 

 

Student Have the Following Rights and Responsibilities:

 

1.       The right to be treated with respect and as a member of the anesthesia program and anesthesia departments.

2.       The right to have the educational process viewed as an interactive exchange between student and teacher.

3.       The right to meet with faculty during regular office hours

4.       The right to expect the faculty to be prepared for class or clinical.

5.       The right to fair and timely evaluation of his/her progress and receive constructive suggestions for improvement.

6.       The right and responsibility to provide timely, professional feed back regarding the program, curriculum, and faculty and make suggestions for improvements.

7.       The responsibility to be present and prepared for class and clinical.

8.       The responsibility to have syllabi for each didactic and clinical course and to know the objectives for the course or clinical experience and to make every effort to attain the objectives.

9.       The responsibility to complete all projects and assignments on time.

10.   The responsibility to seek learning experiences and be available when these experiences can only be attained outside of scheduled hours.

11.   The responsibility to respect faculty, classmates and other members of the perioperative team.

12.   The responsibility to place patient safety ahead of all other considerations.

 

Patient Rights and Responsibilities:

 

1.       The right to be treated with respect and to have his/her friends and families treated with respect.

2.       The right for faculty and students to be current in their knowledge of OSHA and HIPPA rules and regulations as well as knowledge of fire and electrical safety and infection control.

3.       The right to expect faculty and students to have up-to-date knowledge about each individual clinical site’s Patient Rights statements (see Appendix I, RSNA Student Handbook 2010-2011).

4.       The right to expect students and instructors to be prepared for safely administering anesthesia.

5.       The right to expect students and instructors to individualize, quality patient care.

6.       The right to expect students and instructors to be current in their knowledge of anesthesia administration.

7.       The right to be involved in what will occur during the anesthetic management.

8.       The right to have his/her cultural and personal values respected.

9.       The right to privacy and confidentiality.

10.   The right to a safe environment.

11.   The right to know the identity and function of care givers.

12.   The right to a care giver who will be aware of unanticipated outcomes.

13.   The responsibility to provide complete information.

14.   The responsibility to ask questions.
